DO NOT CONFORM A SERIES: CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN
Do you celebrate Halloween? Quick note, I’m not going the classic route of telling you why celebrating Halloween is wrong. It only takes a simple glance at what Halloween is to see it’s evil and God quite literally can’t be around evil because He’s infinitely Holy. Evil and Holy mix, as well as a flaming match, dipped into a glass of water. I’ve found most people have a position and typically don’t sway so
As a society, we aren’t stranger to joining in on popular things like saying “bless you” after a sneeze or sitting at the door on a night in October while strangers knock yelling trick or a treat, without a question.
Ironically, it’s newsworthy if a child actually gets a trick.
Seems like a wicked set up if you ask me. Pun absolutely intended, fits right in with the theme. Gotta love those subtle hints.
From my understanding of the trick or treat process, the giver is given an option. Let’s not condemn them for not choosing a treat why don’t we?
But, as with side ponytails, skinny jeans, clip on animal tails and spandex, things become popular and NO ONE knows why.
A few things to contemplate regarding whether to celebrate Halloween
- Standing out from the crowd is where you will learn the most.
- Being consistent according to biblical standard with our children is a must.
- When our mothers said “if your friends jumped off a bridge would you do it too” is valid in adulthood.
- Don’t argue over Holy days, but reject celebrating evil with compromise.
THINGS TO DO INSTEAD OF CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN
I know, I know that one stings. Gasp! To imagine going from being involved in an annual celebration since you wore that infamous “Baby’s 1st Halloween” onesie or classic teddy bear costume, to doing NOTHING is almost like asking you to chew your own arm off.
Am I right!
Imagine you’re swinging from one side of the pendulum to the other. You made a bang on your way into celebration now you can make a bang on the way out.
It will absolutely “feel” awkward the first couple of years. I’m not even gonna lie about that one. *insert awkward silence* and *queue crickets*
But, you will smile with glee as you walk past all the celebrate Halloween propaganda knowing how much money you’re saving. YES!
It’s pure bliss.
DRESS UP BIRTHDAY PARTY
Okay, so you love dressing up. I get it. Dressing up is fun. Thing is, you don’t have to celebrate Halloween to dress up. The children look adorable dressed in that little bumblebee bee or mini firefighter costume any day of the year.
Of course, this is another photo OP. Again, our children are little imagining engines all year long.
If your littles are anything like mine, they change several times a day and pretend to be any number of cute animals or heroic icons every day!
And I’ll tell you, the pictures you can get at noon on a Spring Wednesday in May. Or maybe, a Saturday at the end of September when the leaves are turning fire red, orange and yellow are 100 times better than that dull, nighttime, tired picture on October 31st after rushed and discounted pizza for dinner.
Instead, have a dress-up birthday or playdate. Your children will love it. In case children aren’t part of your life yet, there’s nothing saying adults can’t enjoy a dress-up party too. I’ve seen adults do much worse than have fun in costume.
Seize the moment!
Just not in celebration of the devil, witches, and warlocks. Oh my!
BECOME A SALES SHOPPER OVERNIGHT
Speaking of propaganda. The most popular reason to celebrate Halloween is FREE candy!
That’s all you have to say. I get it.
But you know how cheap it is the day after? Talk about standing out. You just saved a ton on Halloween propaganda candy by switching to not celebrating evil.
Couponer secret, it’s the same exact candy in a different package and smaller sizes you have the privilege to pay more for.
Do your wallet a favor. Wait until the day after.
ABSOLUTELY FORSAKE THE HARVEST PARTY AT CHURCH
Nothing says, “of the world” like a church Harvest party.
Here’s a prime example of pretending to do as scripture says but really just being lazy. I know that sounds harsh and is a blanket statement. There are a select few who get out into the highways and byways but be honest. When was the last time your church went out on the street and shared the Good News with strangers passing by? Not an outreach that brought people in for free food and drink but really went out and found people to listen to the Good News of Salvation?
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The church finds every way possible to stay inside the walls and WAIT for people to
And then, when lost and broken people bring themselves in for free candy, SURPRISE they find the church doing the same exact thing as the world. What’s there to look forward to with Jesus?
That’s like scooping up lumpy, mucus-filled, rancid vomit into a pretty container with a nice clean label on it and saying it’s different than your average vomit. Any takers??
Hmmm… The church is providing a horrible example.
This example accomplishes the exact opposite of every good intention. Truth is, good intention is not the gospel.
Instead, have a prayer meeting with the whole congregation and pray for all those bound by evil, living in witchcraft and paganism.
That will please the Lord Almighty!
NOT DIFFERENT, JUST DON’T
It’s not about celebrating the wicked holiday differently it’s about not celebrating it at all.
There are people out there who are truly bound by this wicked satanic holiday. Putting on a smile in a fairy costume doesn’t change that. Nor does it help anybody.
Showing our children it’s okay to blend in as long as you have a different explanation is a lie.
Be different. You are truly not missing anything and the freedom that comes along with it is A.Ma.Zing. Without a doubt! Talk soon.
Come find me on Facebook, that's where I hang out when I'm not writing. Talk soon!
As an added bonus here is some scripture because, well, you know that’s my thing! Loving Jesus and living life different by the mighty power of Grace!
Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light 1 Peter 2:9
The beautiful praying words of Jesus…
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is the truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so, have I also sent them into the world. John 17:15-18
